Passionate expression of raw human emotion; universal truths about the human condition; the beauty of nature; the trials of love: this is what fuelled the musical revolution that turned music on its head at the beginning of the 17th century in Italy and led to the birth of opera. A new programme presented by brilliant Anglo-Italian tenor, Mark Tucker, and the new improvising ensemble that has taken the early music world by storm The Division Lobby, directed by theorbo and lute player Paula Chateauneuf. Presented in collaboration with the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Early Music Performance & Research (CEMPR).
